Simple Twist II
Try this after Simple
Twist I.
It is a little more complicated, but gives you
a nice effect, like a length of rope.
First, choose cord,
yarn, or floss of at least 2 colors.
Use several strands of each color for a thicker twist.
Tape the ends on
the table, but this time tape it
on the opposite side from where you are standing,
so the length of the cords goes across the top
of the table. This is because you will need to tape
both ends of some of the cords down at one point.
Now start twisting
the cords of one color together.
Leave the other color(s) alone for now.
When the twist is so tight you can't
stop it from starting to make sideways lumps,
pull it tight and tape the free end down.
Now start to twist
the other color(s) the same way.
Each time a color is fully twisted, tape it down
until you have twisted the last color.
Holding all the ends
tight, untape any that are taped down.
Pinch the ends between your fingers
so they are right next to each other.
Let go of the free
ends and let
the twists wrap around each other.
Smooth out any lumps
by stroking the rope
toward the free ends. Tie knots in each end to make
a bracelet, necklace, belt, or whatever length you want,
then trim the loose ends with scissors.
